I'm loving me some Shadow Hearts, a PS2 RPG release the same month as FF10. For that same reason and other terrible marketing strategies, no one has ever heard of it. But I love it if for no other reason then all of your characters can be given long names, and have been getting involved in the saga of "Date Rapist" "Cocktease" "Numbnuts" and "Drama Queen".

It's Japanese and it's an RPG but it doesn't suffer from many of the same cliches that make Japanese RPG's so unbearable. Other then one character who is dressed up like a super-slut schoolgirl extrodinare but then freaks out when someone hits on her or makes an even vaguely sexual reference. I'd backhand her out of the party for flagrant dick-teasery but until recently she was the only one who could heal. The things I put up with to get through my games.
